Introduction

Most gas grills offer very decent performance but the Weber Spirit II E-310 is designed to impress. From the outside, it comes in 4 color options that invite you to a high-performance cooking and grilling tool inside.

The unit has several convenient and technological features that make it very practical to use. All these are explained in detail in the review below.

Performance: High Heat Output with Zoning

With a maximum heat output of 30,000 BTU/hour, Weber’s Spirit II E-310 creates a very hot flame. This is achieved by firing up all 3 burners to warm up the entire cooking surface.

That said, with 3 independently controlled burners, it is very easy to create different heat zones on the cooking surface. This makes it possible to cook steaks or burgers on one side using high heat while warming vegetables using low heat on the other side.

The gas is distributed using well laid out burner tubes, which help to distribute the heat evenly across the 424 square-inch primary cooking surface area.

This surface is reversible and has a thin side that is ideal for roasting delicate food like fish while the wide side is ideal for imprinting thick searing marks on steaks.

You also get a 105 square-inch warming rack and this raises the overall cooking surface area to 529 square inches. The manufacturer claims that this gives you enough space to cook chicken, steak, or burgers with a serving for 5-7 people.

Design: Easy to Use

This gas grill is equipped with multiple convenience features that make it easy to use. The most noticeable ones are the side tables, which allow you to place sauces, spices, and plates conveniently within close reach.

Additionally, these tables have 6 utensil hooks (3 each), which enable you to hang spoons and tongs for organized storage.

Another important feature is the infinity ignition system, which is guaranteed to produce a spark every time and is simply set off by the push of a button.

You also get a fuel gauge next to the gas tank to show you the remaining fuel level at a glance and a lid-mounted thermometer that makes it easy to monitor the temperature level inside.

Setup Process: About an Hour

A lot of components are used to set up this grill. To help simplify the assembly process, the included user manual contains all the step-by-step assembly instructions together with labeled part diagrams.

That said, this process takes about an hour but CNET claims that it is easier to assemble the grill with another person.

Cleaning: Grease Management System

Cleaning the Spirit II E-310 is one of the easiest tasks because it has a grease management system that directs all the fat and fluid drippings into a disposable drip tray below the cook box. This prevents the creation of a sticky mess on the burner tubes and inside the cook box.

Additionally, flavorizer bars are installed between the grate and burner tubes. These have an angled shape that catches drippings then smokes and sizzles them to add more flavor to the food above.

In the process, these components divert the drippings away from the burners, with the excess going into the grease management system. The bars are coated using porcelain enamel, which gives them a smooth non-stick surface that is easy to clean.

Other than that, the cast iron cooking grates are coated using porcelain enamel and this gives them a non-stick surface that is easy to clean.

Portability: Mounted on a Wheeled Cart

Though quite heavy (114 lbs.), this E-310 is easily movable because it is mounted on a cart with two durable all-weather wheels. This allows you to pull it into and out of storage with ease.

Two of the remaining legs don’t have wheels and because of this, they lock the grill in position once you identify a flat, stable spot to set up the unit.

Apart from enhancing portability, the cart’s long legs raise the grill to a comfortable working height, and it has a bottom shelf that gives you extra storage space.

Technology: iGrill 3

Apart from having impressive cooking hardware, this gas grill incorporates the use of wireless technology to monitor the cooking process.

Named iGrill 3, this is an app-connected thermometer that enables you to monitor how your meat is cooking remotely from your phone. Once it reaches the ideal temperature, this app notifies you so that you can go get it off the fire.

However, it is worth noting that the grill is only iGrill 3 ready and therefore, there is some extra hardware that you will need to buy.

Additionally, you need a compatible smart device and the manufacturer states that you need smartphones or tablets running Apple iOS 9 or higher, or Android 6 or higher, with Bluetooth 4.0 or higher.

Accessories: None

No accessories are included with this Spirit II E-310 but there are various extras that you can buy. For instance, you can get Weber 6610 tongs for grabbing and turning your meat or bamboo skewers for securing and easy turning of seafood, vegetables, fruits, and small pieces of meat.

Price: Expensive

This propane gas grill is not exactly cheap. Its price almost borders the $500 mark and therefore, it is considered to be a solid investment for your backyard. However, since it is fully packed with tons of features, it is worth the price.

In comparison, the Spirit II E-310 (49010001) costs the same as this model 45010001 and the only difference is that the former uses natural gas as fuel and is equipped with a hose to connect to the gas line.

There is also the 46510001, which is costlier than the grill under review, but this is because it has a cabinet and 4 caster wheels. All these models are within Weber’s Spirit series and the manufacturer has much more to offer in its various lineup series.
