Bottom Line

If you are looking for a portable table saw to use in remote worksites, Bosch’s 4100-10 is the best option to consider.

Introduction

Part of your woodworking project might involve working remotely in the different worksites. This requires portable power tools and a good example of this is the Bosch 4100-10. This is a Jobsite table saw that is designed with portability in mind.

It comes with a folding table stand that holds the saw and has wheels that simplify the transportation process. The tool also offers exceptional performance and more details are given in the review below.

Performance: Soft Starting Powerful Motor

Bosch’s 4100-10 is fitted with a 15-amp 4 HP motor that spins the arbor at a top speed of 3650 RPM with no load. This provides enough torque and power to rip and crosscut through hardwood with ease.

The motor is managed by a soft-start circuitry, which controls the intensity of the startup. This reduces torque at the beginning then gradually increases it when approaching the top speed.

According to the Bosch, this slow starting process minimizes the chances of circuit breaker tripping, which can be very inconveniencing.

Additionally, part of this system includes a constant response circuitry, which helps to maintain the motor’s speed under load so that you can get constant cutting performance.

I am impressed with this advanced circuitry because it improves the responsiveness and user experience of this tool.

Design: Easy to Use

Other than that, the tool has an easy-to-use design that houses various features such as an arbor lock that makes blade changes easy.

A magnifying window is built above the rip fence scale and this makes it easy to read the rip fence extension measurement for accurate, hassle-free adjustment.

On the other hand, the rip fence also packs in a convenience feature in the form of a square lock self-aligning mechanism. This simplifies the adjustment process and ensures high accuracy by keeping the fence perfectly parallel to the blade at all times.

Portability: Compact with a Wheeled Stand

One of the greatest strengths of Bosch’s 4100-10 is its portability. This is made possible by a compact design, in which its entire body measures 29 x 32 x 13.25 inches with the fence folded in.

Most importantly though, the saw is mounted on a heavy-gauge steel stand that has large 8-inch wheels with solid rubber tires for easy movement.

According to the manufacturer, this stand is stable enough to enhance rip accuracy plus outstanding portability. It is fitted with a large handle at the front end for easy pulling while two adjustable feet allow you to level the saw when placed on uneven ground.

A gravity-rise design makes it easy to set up this frame by using a single handle and the same is used to fold it in after use.

The saw itself has integrated carry handles that make it easy to lift out of the stand and since it weighs only 58 lbs., it is also easily portable on its own.

Professionals who constantly switch between working from the workshop and at the actual site will find this feature very handy and should buy this saw.

Safety Feature: Modular Smart Guard System

The biggest safety feature that the Bosch 4100-10 has is its modular smart guard system. This has several components, with the main one being the transparent cover.

This gives you unobstructed views of the blade as it cuts and in case anything goes wrong, you can spot it immediately and react quickly by switching off the motor.

A riving knife and pawls are included as part of this system, and these are meant to reduce kickbacks. The riving knife acts as a splitter that ensures the sliced workpiece does not head back to the blade, which can then be thrust backward in your direction.

On the other hand, pawls contain sharp teeth that catch the material to prevent it from being thrown back.

This guard system houses a 2.25-inch dust port, which can be hooked up to a shop vac to conveniently remove sawdust from the working area. This prevents it from getting into your nose, mouth, and eyes.

That said, it is still recommended to wear safety goggles and a dust mask to keep yourself fully protected.

Accessories: Full Set

For its price range, Bosch’s 4100-10 comes with a full set of accessories. Apart from the square lock fence and wheeled stand, another key piece is the miter gauge, which enables you to make accurate angled miter cuts by sliding through slots on the tabletop.

You get a removable throat plate insert while a multi-function blade wrench enables you to fasten and unfasten the blade’s nut when replacing the blade.

The included push stick acts as a safety feature because it helps you to protect your fingers when making very narrow rip cuts. It should be used to push the workpiece in such a scenario, and it keeps your fingers at a safe distance from the sharp spinning teeth.

Price: Quite Costly

This table saw sits at the high end of the price range. However, it is worth this price because it has a high build quality and is packed with multiple accessories.

The tool can only be compared with the 4100XC-10, which has a similar gravity-rise wheeled stand for easy portability but with a slightly wider rip capacity of 30 inches. However, this model is not out yet, and therefore, its price is not yet available for comparison.

Verdict

A portable high-end Jobsite table saw that is ideal for professionals working on remote worksites.

With its relatively lightweight construction plus a foldable wheeled stand, Bosch’s 4100-10 is highly portable and this makes it ideal for remote use in different projects.

However, the tool is quite costly due to its high build quality, multiple convenience features, and multiple accessories, and this makes it suitable for professionals. Beginners can also acquire it if they have some money to spare.
